WE SAY
Up-and-coming singer-songwriter Ben Brown starts 2018 in an optimistic mood with the release today of his third single No Words. There's reason to be confident as this breezy, easy-going song contains cleverly crafted lyrics describing the uncertainty around whether a girl’s feelings for him are genuine, as she only opens up when drunk. Using plucked electric guitars over carefully measured beats, the melody flows along beautifully, developing into a bright, specious and emotional chorus reminiscent of influencer Ed Sheeran, but Ben remains distinctly individual. Expectations are high following a great reaction to his debut single Walked Away, which we featured last summer. It reached No.6 on the iTunes singer-songwriter charts and attracted plays from BBC Radio London and Vibe 107.6 FM, whilst follow-up single Hold Me (In Your Arms Again) found 29k views from Rhythmic’s Facebook video post. A big single launch last night at Tileyard Studios has set the bar and he has a Sofar Sounds gig on 16 January, followed by an appearance at The Bedford in London on 22 January which will further push him into the spotlight.
