Australian singer-songwriter Lily Papas delivers an enchanting and cinematic dose of alt-pop in this her first offering. Signed to Neon Records, and backed by Universal Music Australia, Lily is an artist who revels in fantasy by channelling her frustrations into her music and songwriting. Taken from her forthcoming debut album Encore, which was written in her Gold Coast home and produced in LA, Wild evokes a blissful blend of London Grammar’s soothing electronica with the vintage feel of Lana Del Rey and the grittiness and rasp of the Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde. Upon release last week, it was featured on Spotify AU & NZ New Music Friday playlist and has since been added to their Chilled Hits and Pop n’ Fresh editorial playlists, while also picking up support on Australian blogs. Astonishingly accomplished but unsurprisingly confident, this lushly produced single offers a tantalising glimpse of what is to come from this emerging Australian artist.
