Rain
Sunday (1994)
WE SAY
Continuing our Ones To Watch 2026 is indie trio Sunday (1994). Formed around the transatlantic writing partnership of Paige Turner (California) and Lee Newell (Slough), alongside drummer Puma, the trio have been on our radar since they released the gorgeous single ‘Stained Glass Window’, and their quality was only strengthened by their self-titled debut EP in 2024. Their wistful, cinematic sound, rooted in the romantic melancholy of Mazzy Star, The Cure, and The Sundays, quickly drew tastemaker support from Notion, Dork, Clash, Rolling Stone UK, Hunger, and 1883, alongside early radio backing from BBC Radio 1 (Future Artists, Indie Show), BBC Radio 6 Music, Apple Music, and support at DSPs. Since then, the momentum has continued to build with the release of their second EP, this year's 'Devotion'. Focus single, 'Rain', captures the band at their most assured, delivering hypnotic, slow-burning indie built on hazy guitars, emotional restraint, and a lingering sense of atmosphere. On the live front, Sunday (1994) have translated their growing buzz into sold-out rooms and standout festival moments, including a packed Village Underground, their biggest headline show to date at EartH Hackney, and appearances at The Great Escape (which was amazing), Live at Leeds, Neighbourhood Weekender, Electric Picnic and Reading Festival, plus an in-store at Banquet Records. With more music in 2026 and a major support slot with Snow Patrol and Circa Waves confirmed for next summer, Sunday (1994)’s upward trajectory shows no signs of slowing.
