Burnout

Girl Tones

Big Loud Rock/Parallel Vision

WE SAY

Next up on our Ones to Watch is fast-rising American rock duo Girl Tones. Formed by classically trained sisters Kenzie (cello-turned-guitar) and Laila (piano-turned-drums), the pair deliver a high-energy blend of White Stripes-esque grit, ’70s rock swagger and a Veruca Salt-styled ’90s grunge edge. After early momentum from their debut tracks 'Fade Away' and 'Again', produced by Brad Shultz of Cage The Elephant, the duo have spent 2025 rolling out a run of standout singles. They grabbed our attention over the summer with 'Blame' and 'Cherry Picker', before landing their biggest breakthrough yet with October’s 'Burnout', a frenetic take on shrinking attention spans and creative overload. The track delivered their highest first-week Spotify streams, multiple Top 10 US DSP placements (including Spotify’s Marrow and a #1 on New Noise), the cover of Vevo’s Frontline Indie and a sync on ABC’s High Potential. SiriusXM Alt Nation have backed their recent singles, while Live Nation spotlighted them in its “Early Birds” series. Press support has been strong from Rolling Stone, VICE, Consequence, NME and Dork. On the live front, Girl Tones have built a riotous reputation touring the US with Cage The Elephant, Silversun Pickups, The Velveteers and hey, nothing., and playing major festivals including Lollapalooza, Shaky Knees and Austin City Limits. Last month, they made their UK debut with headline dates and a buzzy First Fifty set for The Great Escape in London. With serious tastemaker backing and a growing catalogue of raucous, hook-packed singles, Girl Tones are a duo gathering serious momentum and unquestionably Ones to Watch.
