Infected mind

RIVER

Wife

WE SAY

Filled with ghostly dream-pop textures, swirling guitars, and shadowy synths, ‘Infected mind’ is the fearless new single from Swedish alt-pop artist RIVER. Raised in Gothenburg and now based in Stockholm, RIVER’s path into music was shaped by the loss of her father at 17, a turning point that saw her busking across Australia and Mexico and honing the voice that defines her work today. Released last week, the single follows last autumn’s ‘I Am Cancer’ and offers an unflinchingly honest reflection on her past self. Drawing on the cinematic melancholy of Portishead and the hazy intimacy of Mazzy Star, 'Infected mind' has already garnered tastemaker support from Vanyaland, Ones To Watch, Alfitude, and She Makes Music, among others. With previous syncs on Netflix shows Young Royals and GROWN-ISH, RIVER delivers another track primed for TV and film placements, while also feeling right at home on alt-pop DSP playlists and late-night spins on BBC 6 Music. Plus, previous DSP support has come from Spotify and Apple Music. As momentum continues to build within Sweden’s underground, RIVER is an artist to keep an eye on as she dives deeper into themes of identity, shame, and self-reclamation with striking clarity and emotional depth.
