Nice Kid
The Deadmans
WE SAY
It may be early days, but we’re already taken by the debut release from London-based, international alt-pop newcomers The Deadmans. Formed by three artists with a shared focus on both music and visual storytelling, the core line-up brings together British/Australian musician and filmmaker Harry Deadman, American playwright and artist LaurenSage Browning, and American singer and actress Nikki DeParis. Lyrically led by LaurenSage, debut single 'Nice Kid' distils her mid-20s Los Angeles experiences into a tense, slow-burn wake-up call about outgrowing the spaces you’re in. It’s a confident opening statement, pairing groove-driven lo-fi cool with a sharp emotional bite, and feels well-suited for adventurous alt-pop and indie playlists at DSPs, as well as tastemaker spins across Radio 1, 6 Music, and Radio X. Watch the striking, David Lynch-inspired VHS video shot in LaurenSage’s Kansas hometown by Harry and LaurenSage here. High-concept, wordy, and proudly out of place, The Deadmans introduce themselves with quiet confidence. With more music and special live plans taking shape, this feels like a project worth getting familiar with early.
