You & I
Les Imprimés
WE SAY
We do love a soulful, laid-back tune here at RotD, and ‘You & I’ more than delivers. The solo project of Norwegian producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Morten Martens, Les Imprimés arrives with the assurance of an artist who has spent more than 20 years working behind the scenes, including a Spellemann (Norwegian Grammy) win for hip-hop production. Distilling decades of absorbed influence into his own work, Morten draws from ’50s doo-wop and easy listening, ’60s folk and soul, and ’90s indie and hip-hop to create a sound awash with warm, rich textures. The first single from his forthcoming album 'Fading Forward', which was recorded largely solo in a converted cinema hall on a remote Norwegian island, 'You & I' is a smooth, hazy, soulful gem. Gently rolling rhythms, soft-focus melodies, and lived-in grooves give the track a timeless feel without tipping into nostalgia. Released earlier this week, the track deserves additions to soulful playlists across DSPs, alongside spins at Radio 2, 6Music, and 1Xtra, and has potential sync opportunities for adverts, TV, or film. Previous tastemaker support has come from 6 Music and Radio 2. Next month, you can catch Les Imprimés performing in London on 19 February at The Lexington.
