The talk of the Irish music industry right now, Marc O'Reilly is one of those great unsigned acts that comes along once in a while and who you can see going on to become something very special for years to come. His current album Human Herdings was released in the spring to almost unanimous praise in the Emerald Isle. Prior to that, he created a buzz on BBC 6Music last autumn with former Record Of The Day track Change (championed by Steve Lamacq and released mysteriously with his brother Pierre under the pseudonym 'R') which spent six weeks on the station's playlist, then went to no.1 on the Amazing Radio chart. Now comes this latest featured song, a smouldering, tension-filled brooder that builds and builds to become a bit of a rock beast. Unsurprisingly, we hear it's already lined up for a bunch of forthcoming US syncs, which should firmly cement Marc's reputation Stateside. Live dates in the next couple of weeks here in the UK include a main stage slot at the GBFF festival at London's Olympia on August 13, Devon's Beautiful Days festival on August 15 and an appearance at this year's Green Man festival the same weekend. As larger numbers of intelligent music lovers continue to demand more introspective sounds from the artists they follow, expect Marc's status as a unique talent to grow accordingly.
