My Friend Has A Swimming Pool

Daisy Finetto and her brother Thomas used to live in Milan as kids before he moved to Newcastle and headed to university in the city. She followed him there a year later and the siblings decided to form a band with two other mates, Ben Brown and Benji Huntrods. Mausi make cool, credible pop songs with influences like Talking Heads, Daft Punk and Phoenix. We were first on the case with the quartet way back in early 2012 when they were unsigned and we featured their track Sol. Now, their debut album is due later this year, but recently a remix by The Magician of this radio-friendly pop nugget peaked at No.2 on Hype Machine and racked up an impressive 76,000 Soundcloud plays in less than a week. All the usual hip tastemakers have shown love for the group, Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and Phil & Alice are fans and the song is currently on the Capital playlist. Their energetic live shows have led them to support Clean Bandit, Charli XCX and AlunaGeorge over the past 12 months and the band played at the Secret Garden Party last weekend. Tonight (July 30) they've got their own headline gig at Concrete in London. Expect this feel-good summertime sing-along gem to be running round your brain as you jump on the tube on the way home and still be stuck in your head for days to come. Mausi have produced a quality earworm of the highest order that'll have you partying on your sun lounger as this blasts from the nearest speaker by the pool. Jump in.
