To Make a Man

Amity

indepdendent

WE SAY

South London’s Amity pushes his remarkable rise forward with 'To Make A Man', an anthemic, piano-led salvo against toxic masculinity and the manosphere that bristles with urgency. At just 18, the queer, trans, and autistic artist has already sold out the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room and earned praise from the Guardian and BBC Radio for his “gut punch voice” and “razor-sharp pen game”. Prompted by a writing clip that drew nearly half a million views, the track was written, recorded, mixed (by Jeff Knowler), and mastered in under five days. With its stripped-back arrangement, the track gives Amity’s dramatic, emotionally charged vocals centre stage. Watch the video here. His ascent has been building since a Guardian-tipped debut at 15, followed by ASBO Magazine support, national sold-out shows, a Future Maker Artist Award from the Royal Albert Hall, and appearances at the Great Escape and Brighton Pride. This year brought his debut EP 'Ephemeral', another Elgar Room sell-out, and a key distribution deal with Kycker Music. With 12 more release-ready tracks and three albums’ worth of material already in hand, Amity is a prolific and uncompromising new voice for fans of Sofia Isella, Paris Paloma, and Ren.
