London-based artist BVDHI (pronounced boo-dee) follows recent singles 'Loser', 'Tie Dye' and the RotD-featured 'Atoms' with 'Rock Steady' – a gorgeously layered neo-soul cut that showcases her talents as a singer, songwriter and producer. Entirely self-made, the five-minute track opens on plaintive Rhodes chords and yearning vocals before building into a groove-driven, harmony-rich soundscape. Released yesterday (22 July), the track explores romantic obsession, blending emotionally raw lyricism with seductive, slow-burning production. Nods to ’90s soul and forward-thinking arrangements make this a standout for soul and new release programming at DSPs, while its polished sound and storytelling warrant attention from Radio 1 and 1Xtra. Formerly known as Omahrose, BVDHI has had early backing from BBC Introducing, Earmilk and more, and a debut project on the horizon featuring Grammy-winner Aamir Yaqub and producer Leloo Chan-Ellis, ‘Rock Steady’ marks BVDHI as a rising force worth keeping on your radar.
