War Machine

LAWN CHAIR

self release

WE SAY

Berlin-based indie punks Lawn Chair deliver a powerful cut from their debut album ‘You Want It! You Got It!’ (out 5 September) with ‘War Machine’ — a taut, emotionally charged single that channels raw energy into a poignant tribute to frontwoman Claudia Schlutius’ father, a Vietnam vet and Alaskan fisherman. Fusing jagged guitars, electronic flourishes and searing lyricism, ‘War Machine’ captures the band’s signature blend of punk urgency and art-rock edge, as we have highlighted in previous RotD features in 2023. Previous tastemaker support has come from Steve Lamacq at 6 Music, DIY and Loud Women, and this single feels well suited to alt and grunge-leaning playlists, with further potential airplay on 6 Music and on Radio X. Having cut their teeth at The Great Escape, Reeperbahn and across Germany, the band will tour the UK in September in support of their debut album release, including a show at The Elephants Head in London on 19 September.
