Released today (21 October), 'Gravity' is the majestic lead single from acclaimed singer and songwriter Virginia MacNaughton's third album 'The Thread', due February 2026. A sweeping piano-led composition exploring the irresistible pull of a doomed romance, 'Gravity' marries lush orchestration and soaring harmonies with unflinching emotional honesty. Its opening theme ingeniously mirrors the iPhone xylophone ringtone, evoking the dopamine hit of compulsive messaging as MacNaughton's vocals ascend into a bold, richly orchestrated chorus. Produced by longtime collaborator William Jackson (Kaiser Chiefs, The Cribs) at Leeds' Eiger Studios, 'Gravity' opens an album documenting the arc from destructive obsession to enduring love. MacNaughton's previous releases have secured steady support from BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music, while earning critical acclaim from The Guardian, Independent, Uncut, MOJO and Classic Rock.
