Start The Fire
Sky White
WE SAY
Mozambican DJ, producer and remixer Sky White is back with 'Start The Fire', a deep, hypnotic Afro-house cut primed for late-night dancefloors. Inspired by Black Coffee’s legendary Ballantine’s Human Orchestra performance, Sky began producing at 10, DJing by 16, and has since amassed 600k+ streams, a 120k-strong Instagram following, and a reputation for emotive, groove-driven sets across Southern Africa and beyond. Opening with smouldering tribal percussion and minimal textures, 'Start The Fire' builds through warm atmospheric pads, crisp claps and a solid kick before igniting into an Afro-tech drop powered by organic basslines, resonant synths and primal rhythm. Raw, sensual and liberating, it’s a slow-burn banger that is ready to set dancefloors alight from Maputo to Milan and Ibiza. Released last Friday (15 August), the track is primed for Afro-house and Afro-tech editorial playlists, as well as plays on Radio 1 Dance, Capital Dance and Kiss. With performances at UR Home and major Southern African festivals, Sky will make his London debut at Sondela Recordings’ Village Underground night on 5 September — marking him as a key name to watch in the next wave of Afro-house.
