Drenched in alt-Americana sounds, 'Swim Practice' is the emotive new single from Canadian singer-songwriter Mariel Buckley. Raised in the heart of Canada’s rodeo and country scenes, she built a reputation for pushing boundaries with her angst-driven alt-folk, earning widespread acclaim and a Polaris Music Prize nomination for 2022’s 'Everywhere I Used To Be'. Co-written with Winnipeg's Cassidy Mann, 'Swim Practice' wraps themes of adolescent shame, secrecy, and queer longing in chorus-drenched guitars, rippling percussion, and spacious reverb, pushing Buckley’s sound beyond her Americana roots with indie-rock textures. Produced in Nashville by Jarrad K (Ruston Kelly, Lucie Silvas, Goo Goo Dolls) and taken from her forthcoming album 'Strange Trip Ahead', it's a moody, expressive, and compelling preview of what’s to come. For fans of Ruston Kelly, boygenius and Brandi Carlile.
