Humdrum

We say
We last featured Home Counties as one of our The Great Escape recommendations back in May, having followed the London six-piece since 2022. Now they are back with ‘Humdrum’ – the lead and title track from their forthcoming new album, produced with Al Doyle (Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem) and out on 24 October. It’s a jittery, synth-heavy, and hook-laced highlight that channels shades of Late Of The Pier and reckons with self-sabotage and success-envy in equal measure. Released yesterday (8 July), it’s tailor-made for those indie/alt electronic playlists as well as new release programming at DSPs and deserving of support on 6 Music and Radio 1 too. With previous support from Radio 1, 6 Music, Apple 1, Apple Music, NME, Loud & Quiet, So Young, Clash and DIY, to name just a few, we expect to see this popping up in all the right places over the next week or so. Festival sets at Truck, Waldstock and Y Not this summer, followed by a UK headline tour in autumn, will only bolster what’s shaping up to be a big second chapter for the band. One to keep a very close eye on.
