Heart Splat

We say

We’ve always been impressed by the off-kilter, ’90s grunge-inspired alt-pop sound of Brooklyn-based singer, songwriter and producer Richard Orofino. Since we first featured him in 2021, Richard has shown that he is not shy about combining a diverse range of influences from the likes of Sade, New Order, Cocteau Twins, Jane’s Addiction and Smashing Pumpkins to his music. Along the way, he has caught the attention of Clash, Wonderland, Earmilk and Atwood, as well as numerous editorial playlists at Spotify (inc Lorem, IRL Angels, All New Indie, Undercurrents & more). Drenched in grunge aesthetics with an almost Nirvana-esque guitar motif, Heart Splat is a dark and off-centred alt-pop ode. Co-written/produced with Gabe Wax (Soccer Mommy, War On Drugs), the track, with its underlying lullaby-esque quality, deserves spins on 6 Music, Radio 1 (Jack Saunders) and Radio X.
