We say

20 year old Caity Baser has gained an enormous following in less than a year thanks to her catchy songs and honest, outspoken and empowering lyrics. Last March, along with thousands of TikTok users, we fell head over heels for her last single, the lyrically witty and joyously naughty pop earworm Friendly Sex. Since then, the track has gained millions of streams at DSPs and BBC Radio 1 plays. While further tastemaker support for her has come from the Observer, The Sun, Notion, Euphoria and Early Rising, to name just a few. Telling a story of a recent breakup, X & Y is the contagious new single written by Caity and produced by Future Cut (Lily Allen, Rihanna) and Digital Farm Animals (Charli XCX, Rita Ora). Prior to its release today (12 August), Caity teased the song to her TikTok followers and instantly made an impact, amassing over 8m views. With its blend of ’60s pop and doo-wop sounds with crisp beats, horns and those sharp, witty lyrics, the song was added to new release programming on Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music. Expect to see this pop nugget build steam online, be added to further editorial playlists at DSPs, and receive spins on radio. Later this month, Caity will perform at Reading and Leeds festivals on the BBC Introducing stage and then in September, she will play sold-out shows at London’s O2 Academy Islington (22 September) and Manchester’s Academy 3 (23 September). One to watch.
