WE SAY
LA duo PAPA - aka Darren Weiss and Danny Presant - were unsigned when we featured the colossal Put Me To Work back in May following an incendiary and talked-about SXSW showing. That track pricked the ears of Radio 1 (including a Zane Lowe Next Hype), 6Music, Xfm and Absolute, while the Guardian and NME among others fell for their 'Springsteen-sized punch'. Now signed to Loma Vista/Island, they release Young Rut on September 9, another slab of anthemic, stadium-ready rock that, following a Zane Lowe premiere, has already attracted an impressive 49 spins in the UK, including a playlist at Amazing Radio, as well as press love from Best Fit, Fake DIY, The Fly and more. Debut album Tender Madness is scheduled for a November 4 release in the UK to coincide with the band's European tour. On the strength of what we've heard so far, those stadiums might not be so far off.
