WE SAY

A glance at the extensive online love for London-based singer-songwriter Abigail Wyles reveals a long list of comparisons stretching from Carole King and Kate Bush at one end, to Jessie Ware and Bat For Lashes at the other. We can hear Erykah Badu and even a little London Grammar here in the understated, dusky electro-pop of debut single Mantra, out August 11 on Chase & Status's MTA Records. Aided by long-time production partner Holly Simpson, Wyles is crafting original modern pop that draws you in deeper with each listen - no surprise then that Mantra picked up 40k Soundcloud plays in its first 10 days. Wyles was recently in the studio with Nile Rodgers (both artists feature on Chase & Status's upcoming third studio album) and is working with an impressive list of producers and remixers. One to keep a very close eye on.
