Daniel James
A Lonely Man

unsigned

WE SAY

There's no shortage of singer-songwriter talent around at the moment, but 23 year-old Daniel James from London via Northern Ireland is definitely among the cream of an interesting new crop. Having picked up BBC Introducing plays for previous tracks Jackdaw and The Stone & The Hollow, Daniel has delivered his strongest song yet in A Lonely Man, an engaging tale in which he intertwines his own struggles with those of an imagined nineteenth-century slave. Clash Magazine selected it as Track of the Day last week, rightly pointing up the depth of his carefully honed songs, while Rankin's Hunger TV premiered the video on Friday. Don't expect Daniel for stay unsigned for long - he's in discussions with several major labels and publishers - and he's just signed with Tom Windish for North American bookings. There's real promise here and we're excited to hear more.
