We say

Blending modern folk with cinematic strings and hazy, dream-leaning production, ‘The Boy and The Swan’ is the haunting new single from RotD favourite singer-songwriter and classically trained multi-instrumentalist Bird. Co-written with Jens Dolleslagers and Belgian artist Aqua Riyaz, the track is the third release from her upcoming EP 'Strange As Folk'. Centred on a striking metaphor, the song pairs the story of a bullied boy with the image of a swan slowly losing its feathers, tracing how damage is passed on and carried. Hypnotic and intimate, it plays out like a dark folk tale, drawing on country, Americana, and indie-folk textures. Featuring on Spotify's Emerging Americana and Deezer's Brand New UK, the track is off to a stong start and we expect to hear spins on radio soon. An award-winning artist with five albums released, Bird’s background spans youth orchestras, film soundtrack work, and collaborations with Emeli Sandé, Vanessa-Mae, and members of Travis, Texas, and Manic Street Preachers. Her work has earned support from BBC Radio 2, Radio 5, and BBC regional stations, alongside praise from Wonderland, Americana UK, and Under The Radar, plus DSP backing from Deezer and Apple Music. Following a recent run as Caffè Nero’s Artist of the Month, Bird heads to the US later this month for shows including a USA Folk Alliance showcase and SXSW appearances in March, before returning for a UK record-store tour in late June.
