Today's Ones To Watch is American singer-songwriter Matt Hansen. At just 25, the LA-based artist has quietly become one of the most compelling success stories in independent music. Building his career entirely outside traditional industry structures, the emotionally charged songwriter has amassed over 1bn global streams, 5.8m monthly Spotify listeners, and a devoted 3m-strong TikTok following. Despite being US-born, his biggest audience lies in Europe, where his raw, universal storytelling first caught fire online before translating into sold-out international tours. His soul-baring honesty, reminiscent of Lewis Capaldi, has become his calling card and is evident in fan favourites 'Something To Remember', 'Let Em Go', 'Yellowstone', and most recent singles, 'Forever Again' and the heart-on-sleeve anthem 'Don't Look Back'. On the live front, this year he completed his first proper world run — a 41-date tour across multiple continents — and has just wrapped a sold-out headline tour across Australia and New Zealand. In early 2026, he will join Dean Lewis on his North American tour, adding to an impressive live résumé that already includes headline shows across the globe, a sold out EartH show, as well as support slots for Teddy Swims, Lauv, Train, and Alec Benjamin. With his powerhouse vocals and authentic artistry connecting him to audiences worldwide, 2025 has been an unbelievable year for Hansen, especially as an independent artist, but we believe there is more to come from this talented artist, and 2026 is set to be even bigger.
