God

We say
Sheffield's alternative pop visionary and RotD's Ones to Watch 2024 artist Gia Ford returns with 'God', her first release since last year's critically acclaimed debut 'Transparent Things'. The single showcases Ford's remarkable ability to weave eras and genres into a sound entirely her own. 'God' is a study in understated elegance. Sixties-inspired psychedelic guitars mesh with sultry bass and jazz-tinged percussion, all elevated by Ford's arresting vocal delivery. Dropping last Friday (10 Oct), the track quickly gained traction on streaming with new release and editorial playlist additions at Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer, plus spins from Emily Pilbeam on BBC Introducing. Raised between Sheffield and Cheshire, Ford earned widespread acclaim for her debut album from the likes of Clash and The Line Of Best Fit. She's since drawn support from NME, DIY, Rolling Stone UK, Dork, 6 Music and BBC Introducing, alongside DSP backing from Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer and VEVO. Elton John is also a big supporter, featuring her on his Rocket Hour Show and naming her in his Top 6 LGBTQ+ artists as Spotify's GLOW ambassador. Having supported Self Esteem and appeared at SXSW, Ford played The Lodge in Manchester last week and will headline The Grace in London tomorrow night (14 Oct) before heading to Pitchfork Music Festival Paris in November. With more singles slated for later this year and into 2026, Ford's ascent shows no signs of slowing, and 'God' proves she's only getting sharper.
