We say

We’ve been keeping a close eye on New Zealand alt-pop artist Luca George since his stunning single ‘Better Apart’ dropped in May, which earned playlist support from Spotify, Apple Music, and multiple spins on BBC Radio 1’s Future Pop. Fresh from supporting Peach PRC on her UK tour, he returns today with ‘Crying In The Bathroom’ - a shimmering, emotionally charged alt-pop track co-written with Eddie Serafica (James Bay, David Guetta) and Aaron Smith (Don Diablo, Jonas Blue). Blending raw vulnerability with bright, hook-filled production, the track channels the bittersweet euphoria of a Robyn-style heartbreak anthem, and it’s brilliant. With early new release and editorial playlist support already in from Spotify (NMF AU & NZ, DK, Pop N Fresh) and Apple Music (NMD, Breaking Pop, New In Pop & more), further traction across sad pop and alt-pop playlists, as well as continued Radio 1 Future Pop backing, seems inevitable. With over 6m streams to date, recognition from Rolling Stone Australia’s Future of Music 25, and an invite to Troye Sivan’s APRA songwriting camp, Luca George’s momentum continues to build. Backed by the same label team behind global success Dean Lewis, this is just the beginning for one of pop’s most promising new voices.
