Miracle

We say
‘Miracle’ is the sublime and affecting new release from Norwegian indie-electronic artist Fig Tape (aka Elias Melkersen). Blending lo-fi textures, warped synths, and stark, haunting vocals, the track channels bedroom-pop intimacy on a cinematic scale as it confronts the looming threat of climate change. Written during a late-night winter session and partially recorded through a hacked telephone mic, 'Miracle' takes inspiration from the Danish series Families Like Ours, which imagines a near-future mass migration triggered by climate catastrophe. Already carving a distinctive lane within the indie-electronic space, Fig Tape has picked up playlist support from Spotify’s Fresh Finds, Oyster, and Metropolis, alongside sustained airplay on NRK P3, and syncs on Netflix’s Young Royals. Plus, as a producer, he has worked with Korean group ILLIT, GoldLink, KiLLOWEN, BAUGRUPPE90, and Britney Manson. On the live front, he’s supported Sigrid, performed at Eurosonic and SOHO Calling, and recently lit up Berlin’s Ritter Butzke with his immersive, genre-blurring DJ/live hybrid show. Named a 2024 finalist in NRK P3’s influential Urørt competition and recently championed by Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Fig Tape is fast emerging as one of the Nordic region’s most vital new voices.
