Thunder

We say
We’re seriously impressed with this dramatic and delicious debut from 16-year-old Doncaster-born newcomer Darcy Rose. ‘Thunder’ is an insidiously fun and ferociously infectious slice of cinematic alt-pop from an artist who’s been turning heads with her sound and fearless songwriting. Darcy first made waves as the youngest ever performer at Tramlines Festival (aged just 14), and has since been working with award-winning producers Jim Lawton and Ray Hedges on material for her debut album. Co-written and produced by Lawton, ‘Thunder’ blends the emotional intensity of Billie Eilish with the chaotic, genre-hopping energy of Ashnikko – all delivered with a sharp-edged confidence. With its genre-blurring bite and radio-ready production, ‘Thunder’ feels primed for spins on BBC Introducing and Radio 1’s Future Pop, alongside additions to alt-pop and new pop playlists at DSPs. We’ve had a sneak peek at what’s coming next – and trust us, the upcoming material is just as explosive. Bold, unpredictable and bursting with personality, Darcy Rose is absolutely one to keep on your radar.
