shelley.

We say
Emerging from Cork’s underrepresented creative underground, The Drive. are a four-piece blending the weight of grunge with the immersive sprawl of shoegaze to craft music that’s both emotionally raw and sonically expansive. Raised in overlooked areas and united by shared struggles, their sound serves as both expression and resistance. Their latest single ‘shelley.’ draws inspiration from Sin City’s noir tension, but digs deeper into themes of retroactive jealousy, anxiety and romantic dread. Built around brooding basslines, crashing guitars and frontman Eoin Murphy’s intense, self-interrogating vocal, it’s a cinematic and searing listen. It’s a powerful step forward from a band that could quite easily become cult favourites here and at home in Ireland. For fans of The Cure, Deftones and Interpol, the group play the George Tavern in London tomorrow night (26 June) — a must-see for anyone not Glastonbury-bound.
