Josephine

We say
Telling the story of an obsessive friendship gone fatally wrong, ‘Josephine’ is the brilliant and bold debut single from north London outfit Hot Stamp. Fronted by sisters Jasmine and Poppy Levi, the band delivers a striking cinematic slice of pop-rock. Built on propulsive guitar lines, moody synth textures, ’00s production and a disco-tinged chorus that sticks on first listen, ‘Josephine’ is a confident and compelling introduction – the result of 18 months spent honing their sound across the London live circuit. Yesterday, they dropped the accompanying video, watch here. Early tastemaker support from The Line of Best Fit, So Young, Dork, and Under the Radar suggests a buzz that’s building momentum. They’ve already played SXSW London and are lined up for Wilderness, Tenement Trail, and Live at Leeds later this year – but if you’re in the capital, keep an eye out for a hometown show. Live, this promises to hit even harder.
