Time Ticks Slowly

We say
Emerging from the hazy dreamworld where psych-folk meets cinematic noir, London-based duo La Nouvelle Musique are set to play three shows across the capital over the next month, with the first tomorrow night at the Twilight Contemporary Gallery. Comprising of husband-and-wife pairing Joanna Beck and Ian de Silva (formerly of Silver), the duo are set to release their self-titled debut album at the end of the month on vinyl via Fruits De Mer. Recorded at Soho’s iconic Berwick Street Studios, their sound is a richly textured blend of baroque folk and atmospheric sound design—drawing clear lines to the spectral beauty of Vashti Bunyan, the smoky introspection of Mazzy Star, and the icy elegance of Nico. Their latest release, ‘Time Ticks Slowly’, offers a mesmerising preview of the hypnotic, slow-burning arrangements that define both their live shows and forthcoming album. With early support from tastemakers including Uncut and Mojo for their acclaimed Premonitions EP, La Nouvelle Musique are steadily carving out a space for themselves—one rooted in mystique, melancholy, and quiet magnetism.
