Too Late to Lie

We say
Next up on our artist spotlight for SXSW London is Jamaican singer-songwriter Lila Iké, one of the country’s fiercest new voices. Raised in Jamaica by her mother and three sisters, Lila began her musical journey performing at open mic nights. It was there that she caught the attention of Protoje, who signed her to his label and management company, In.Digg.Nation Collective. Lila’s sound is a compelling blend of reggae, soul, hip hop, and dancehall, rooted in old-school vibes with a modern swagger. With her distinctive vocal delivery, Lila has already made waves with her debut EP and a series of standout singles, including collabs with Joey Bada$$ and Mahalia. Her music has earned praise and been supported by BBC 1Xtra (Seani B, David Rodigan), Spotify, BBC, Rolling Stone, Spin, Vogue and the New York Times. She’s also garnered a MOBO nomination for Best Reggae Act and performed on NPR Tiny Desk and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where she appeared alongside Protoje. Earlier this year, Lila released the emotionally rich and soulful, reggae-tinged ‘Too Late To Lie’, taken from her forthcoming debut album via Wurl Iké Records & In.Digg.Nation Collective under exclusive license to Ineffable Records. Following her debut UK headline shows in April, Lila returns to bring her powerful live performance to London once more. Lila Iké will perform as part of SXSW London at Strongroom with Converse on Friday 6 June at 10pm. Musical Festival Wristbands are available here.
