The Dinosaur’s Skin

We say
Taiwanese Jurassic-pop duo The Dinosaur’s Skin is our next artist that we recommend you catch later this week at the Great Escape Festival. Formed by vocalists “Trex” and “Triceratops,” the band presents itself as a pair of time-travelling dinosaurs who survived extinction and weave their eccentric origin into a dreamy fusion of bedroom pop, synth pop, and indie rock that’s equal parts nostalgic and futuristic. Their first EP, ‘Millions Of Years Apart’, earned them a nomination for the Best Vocal Group at the 32nd Golden Melody Awards in Taiwan, and the title track was nominated for the Best Alternative Pop Song at the 12th Golden Indie Music Awards. Following their debut UK single release, ‘Meteor Shower’, the band dropped this hazy dream pop offering last month. With echoes of MGMT, Beach House and Tame Impala, the song is a perfect glimpse of what to expect on Thursday. Before that, The Dinosaur’s Skin will play a show at Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes in London tomorrow night (13 May), before heading to Brighton to play the Secret Comedy Club (2.40pm) for the Alternative Escape. A must watch for those of you into dream pop, lo-fi and indie rock.
