We say

We’ve been big admirers of Brooke Law’s blend of country, pop and rock over the past three years, and now she has kicked it up a gear or two with this fantastic release. It’s been a busy and transformative year for the London-based artist since we last featured her at the beginning of 2023. Shows at C2C, Black Deer, Buckle & Boots, Livestock and The Long Road festivals, alongside numerous performances across the capital, led her to receive an invitation to the Buddy Holly Songwriters Retreat in Texas, curated by Grammy Award-winning artist Beth Nielsen Chapman. It was here that Brooke wrote ‘Gypsy Woman’ and we are very thankful for that. Released today (17 April), the track is a fierce, foot-stomping country rock anthem, filled with gritty rock lines, stonking percussion and numerous singalong moments. Deserving of new release programming at DSPs this week, alongside additions to Country Rock/pop playlists, plus spins at Radio 2, Absolute Country, and more, we reckon this would also sound perfect synced to a US TV series like Yellowstone or any of its spin-offs. Watch the video here. This summer, Brooke will be playing several summer festivals, including Livestock and Woodstock, and a headline show at the Green Note in London on 27 June. With country music on the rise here in the UK, we believe Brooke can be a shining light in the scene with her Sheryl Crow meets Alanis Morissette and Chrissie Hynde-esque sound.
