Released last Friday (1 March), ‘Soul Is The Price’ is the addictive and eccentric title track to Berlin-based artist Daniel Stoyanov’s, aka Bulgarian Cartrader, new EP. Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, Daniel moved to West Germany in the ’90s before first finding music success in the band Malky, along with working as a musician and songwriter for Solomun, Casper and Seeed. His latest project first saw Daniel releasing music as Bulgarian Cartrader in 2021 before he dropped his debut album, ‘Motor Songs’, in 2022. His music has since captured the attention of Notion, Wonderland and Indie Shuffle, among others, and radio plays at KCRW, KEXP, Amazing Radio, and Radio Nova. Having won the Music Moves Europe award earlier this year, Daniel’s new EP showcases a sonic journey through struggle and self-discovery, all filtered through an off-kilter blend of indie, soul and alt-pop touched with infectious energy. It’s an absolute joy, and this title track is the pick of the EP. Later this week, he heads off on a headline tour of Germany. No news of UK dates yet, but freshly signed with ATC and having previously played shows in London and Manchester last year, we expect Bulgarian Cartrader will go down extremely well with our festival-loving and gig-going music fans. One to watch.
