We say

Steeped in ’80s gothic post-punk and new-wave pop vibes, ‘Reactor’ is the latest release from Glasgow & Berlin-based band Current Affairs. Consisting of Joan Sweeney, Berlin-based Sebastian Ymai, Gemma Fleet, and Andrew Milk, the band, in this present line-up, has been releasing music since 2020 and is about to release their debut album ‘Off The Tongue’ next month. With nods to The Cure and Siouxsie Sioux, alongside the energy of the B-52s underpinning the track, ‘Reactor’ is “a love song more for the feeling than the person, if you're really honest”. With its earworm guitar hooks, driving percussion and infectious vocals of Joan Sweeney, we can see this picking up spins on 6 Music and specialist shows at Radio 1 and 2, plus those alt playlists at DSPs. Watch the video here. If you are interested in catching them live they will be heading out on a UK tour next month, with a show at The Lexington on 26 July.
