With echoes of the Carpenters blended with the folk sentiments of First Aid Kit, Wendy is the new single from 27 year old composer, musician and producer Holly Henderson. Taken from her second album The Walls, out last Friday (10 February), this gorgeous track tells a story of a person leaving their dog “Wendy” at home and promising her that she hasn’t been abandoned. Beginning with Holly’s dreamy and ethereal storyteller vocals and simple key’s motif, the track builds with layers of instruments and harmonies to remind Wendy, and anyone else listening, that they are never alone. On Sunday, she was interviewed on BBC London, having already picked up plays on the station. Further support has come from Clash, Fatea, V13 and Amazing Radio, plus album reviews are confirmed with Prog Magazine and Shindig. Next month, Holly is playing at the Cavendish Arms on 10 March. All in all, this is just a beautiful record.
