We say

We are big fans of Tom Walker here at RotD, and this politically charged viral anthem is his latest tune and one of his best. As mentioned in Mongrel last week, Tom posted an initial verse of Number 10 to TikTok, and it blew up, with fans demanding a second verse, which Tom obliged. The second verse was even more popular, and within 24 hours, Tom had released the single, which then reached no.5 in the iTunes charts. Further support came from DSPs when it was featured on editorial playlists at Spotify and Deezer. Since then, the track, which references Partygate, the cost of living crisis and the hypocrisy of the powers-that-be, has been building momentum on TikTok with over 3m views and numerous personal stories about what happened to them when they stuck to the rules. Plus, a Fred V dnb remix was launched on TikTok and has so far amassed over 500k views with fans requesting it to be released. At Glastonbury, he performed a packed secret show at The Rabbit Hole on Thursday night that led to a mass sing-along to the song. It’s not often that a pop star decides to write such an outspoken song and release it, but Tom has, and it seems from the response from his fans (and others) that it’s not only him that is discontent with the current government. Later this week, Tom, along with mental health charity Mind, will be launching the Mind Bench to help spread awareness of talking to help with managing mental health.
