Late Night Flex
We do love a summer anthem here at RotD, and we think this slinky collab by Dublin hip-hop/Afrobeats crossover artists Hare Squead and London neo-reggae singer Shauna Shadae is set to become one of this summer’s finest. Developed from a sample of T2’s (who is a fan) 2007 bassline classic Heartbroken by Hare Squead’s Lilo Blues and platinum-selling producer Jay Pryor, Late Night Flex is a gorgeously smooth, afro-pop jammer. Heightened by Shauna’s sensual vocals and dancehall bounce on the track’s bridge, the song has already made an immediate impression upon release today, after receiving its first play from DJ Target last night (June 9) on 1Xtra. Featuring on new release programming across all the major streaming platforms, expect to see Late Night Flex pick up more support across DSP’s summer editorial playlists, along with spins at 1Xtra, Capital Xtra, Kiss, Reprezent Radio and key Irish radio over the coming week. Having already amassed over 160m combined streams and tastemaker praise from GRM Daily, Noisey, Pitchfork and the Guardian, Hare Squead will follow up this single with an album campaign later this year. While Shauna Shadae will kickstart her debut EP campaign next, which includes features from Tion Wayne, Pa Salieu, and Not3s. But for now, bask in this superb summer tune.
