Let us introduce you to 23 year old Essex-based country singer-songwriter Roisin O’Hagan. Born in Chelmsford, Roisin grew up in a house surrounded by music with her singer mother and an avid record collector father. In her teens, she started to write songs and was introduced to producer David Booth by her parents. Soon after, she released her first music and gained tastemaker recognition from the likes of Spotify, BBC Introducing, 6 Music, Absolute Country Radio, CountryLine Radio and Maverick magazine. She has also supported Chris Shiflett and, in 2018, made the final of the Fender Undiscovered Artist of the Year awards. This rich and warm country ode about her first heartbreak was inspired by the romantic lyricism of Bruce Springsteen and Taylor Swift. Released last Friday and driven by an almost Counting Crows like pop/rock feel, Sunset Valley is perfect for country playlists at DSPs. Plus, it wouldn’t go amiss on Radio 2 specialist shows or any country stations. Roisin is currently in Nashville writing and recording new material but will release further singles from her forthcoming debut EP over the next couple of months. With Sunset Valley, Roisin has not only a track to make a statement in the burgeoning UK country scene, but one that has crossover appeal too.
