We say

We’ve been admirers of Toronto-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist GRAE since her second single, Your Hands, and featured the excellent Permanent Maniac back in September 2020. Since then, she has continued to woo fans and tastemakers alike with a string of releases in 2021 and is now back with this divine slice of hazy pop. Channelling the fuzzy essence of Cocteau Twins with splashes of the Cure and fellow Canadian Feist, Room In The Desert sees GRAE weave wistfulness with modern malaise in a song about nothing. GRAE explains: “the song was written on a day when I was lacking inspiration... I decided to write a song about nothing, from nothing, using some random and interesting words”. It’s a hypnotic, addictive, and sublimely trippy affair, making for a gorgeous listen. At DSPs, the track was added to editorial playlists at Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music. Further tastemaker support has come from Billboard, American Songwriter, the Line of Best Fit, Flaunt, Wonderland, Complex, Earmilk and more. Watch the Gemma Warren directed video here. In April, GRAE will release her debut album, Whiplash, and if you are anything like us, we can’t wait to hear it.
