Finishing our Ones To Watch 2022 for this year (but to be continued in Jan) is 21 year old singer-songwriter Lola Young. It’s been something of a momentous year for the south east London BRIT School graduate, who has established herself as one of the most exciting new voices in the UK. Lola's honest and emotive storytelling combined with her retro-fuelled sound and deep, expressive vocals has seen her pick up tremendous praise from British Vogue, British GQ, Elle, Standard, Notion, Dork, Wonderland and Clash. While at radio, her singles, including this gorgeous ’60s R&B styled song, has seen support at Radio 1 and Apple Music 1. Plus, Lola’s music has appeared across numerous editorial playlists at Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer. This year has also seen her brilliantly perform Fake on the Late Late Show with James Corden (see video) and Later with Jools Holland, along with being chosen as the vocalist on this year’s John Lewis Christmas song, a cover of Together In Electric Dreams. Having performed a sold-out headline Lafayette show earlier this autumn, Lola will be heading out on UK/EU headline tour in March 2022. With Amazon (Artists To Watch 2022), MTV (Push Artists 2022), and Vevo (DSCVR Class of 2022) all tipping Lola for big things next year, plus BRITs Rising Star and BBC Sound of 2022 nominations, it seems we are not the only ones either. Classic yet heartfelt modern soul-pop for everyone.
