We say

Starting our third week of Ones To Watch 2022 is an artist that should be familiar to regular readers. We first featured Isle of Wight singer-songwriter Lauran Hibberd back in 2017 as an unsigned artist. Since then, we have watched her sound evolve from folk-pop to rock/indie pop but continued to retain that acerbic, witty lyricism and infectious nature that we fell in love with the first time we heard her. Her music has attracted rave reviews from the likes of NME, the Line of Best Fit, Dork, DIY, Billboard, Nylon, Clash, Gigwise and many others. Jack Saunders, Clara Amfo and Gemma Bradley at Radio 1 have been key supporters, along with John Kennedy at Radio X and Steve Lamacq at 6 Music. Plus, DSP support has come from Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer. Now signed to Virgin Music, she dropped this bombastic and anthemic slacker pop gem in October after a sold-out UK tour, including London’s Omeara, which continued to fuel buzz across indie tastemakers, DSPs and radio. We’ve been big fans of Lauran, and like DIY, which has just named her as part of its Class of 2022, we reckon she is set to have a big breakout year.
