Released last Friday, Sober is the first official track from West Yorkshire artist Lenny James. The first thing that strikes you upon listening to this gorgeous track is his remarkable voice; soulful and beautifully engaging with a hint of folky overtones. Standing at 6ft 7in and heavily tattooed, Lenny has already been compared to artists like Rag’n’Bone Man and James Arthur, but if you listen closely, there are also elements of Ben Howard, James TW and Dermot Kennedy to his music. Picked up by Jawdropper Music after his performances quickly amassed 150k views on YouTube and his demo track Make Our Move was selected as Track of the Week by BBC Introducing, Lenny is now ready to launch himself up the musical ladder with Sober. Perfect for acoustic mood and new pop playlists, along with plays on Radio 2, we expect to hear and see more of him over the coming weeks. He is currently working with several established writers on new material to be released in early 2022, but for now, let us just bask in this glorious track and voice.
