Premiered on BBC Introducing show with Gemma Bradley last weekend, No Label is the new single from Northampton-born and London-based singer and songwriter Eden Lole. Growing up in a musical family (both her parents and grandparents are musicians), it was no surprise she would quickly get the bug and took to playing the piano, along with a love affair for Ella Fitzgerald. No Label follows her debut single Boys, released earlier this year, that comes from a collection of tracks she has written and recorded over the last eighteen months while squirrelled away in a studio. With a sound that blends classic R&B tones, modern soul and some wonky beats, it’s Eden’s laidback, jazzy vocals and lyricism that really shine. Full of verve and sass, the track is absolutely sublime, perfect for playlists featuring the likes of Mahalia, Joy Crookes and Amy Winehouse. It may only be early days, but there is a lot to like about this smooth, soulful song and the talent behind it. One to watch.
