Does It Make You Feel Good
He's already a rising star and former BBC Sound of 2020 contender, but get ready for Glasgow's Joesef to take things up a gear with this confident, hook-laden title track to his latest EP. It's remarkable that almost everything you hear on the record is a product of his self-taught DIY music-making skills that he's acquired since leaving his previous job working in a local pub. This latest song was written after he got back together (and then split again) from the subject of his debut EP, so there's an emotive, but damn cool, soulful edge to the sound, all without losing sight of his charming and endearing pop sensibilites. Watch this Radio 1 C List collaboration from the new EP with Loyle Carner called I Wonder Why. As an artist, key tastemaker press is already invested in Joesef including Clash, i-D and Vogue, whilst Mark Ronson, Sam Smith, Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw have shown strong support. A run of UK dates are lined up for 2021 with Hoxton Hall in the diary for May 20. This song is exactly the kind of quality bop you'd assumed many other young musicians had simply forgotten how to make. He's got an amazing year ahead.
