Ice Cream Sundae
Starting our second week of Ones To Watch 2020 are Dublin four-piece Inhaler. They first came to our attention last year with their early 80s leaning indie-rock debut I Want You, and since then it’s been a dramatic rise for the quartet who bonded over their love of groups like the Stone Roses, Joy Division, and Kings Of Leon at school. A string of single releases, including the 00s-esque foot-stomping rock belter My Honest Face and this shimmering blast of hazy synth-led indie, has seen the band quickly gain a diehard fanbase and tastemaker praise from the likes of Clash, MTV, and Gigwise. Radio plays have come from Jack Saunders, Annie Mac, Phil Taggart and Huw Stephens at Radio 1, along with playlist support at Radio X, Absolute and Virgin Radio, while Spotify and Amazon Music have also added them to editorial playlists. Tomorrow night (10 December) they play a sold-out London Garage show after having supported Blossoms on a US tour and completed a busy UK & European autumn tour. Now, what we love about this band is their youthful ambition and a knack for writing addictive indie-rock belters that no matter your age anyone can fall for their charm. Tipped by Ticketmaster, NME and Dork too for big things next year, Inhaler are a band full of energy and a certain pizzaz that we are sure are heading for a rather spectacular 2020.
