We say

There is something special about the songwriting of 23 year old singer-songwriter Brooke Bentham that instantly draws you in. Her plaintive and observational lyricism first caught our attention back in 2017 with the sublime I Need Your Body. Now with two EPs behind her, things are hotting up for the South Shields artist, who after the release of the fantastic All My Friends Are Drunk in October, has just announced the release of her debut album Everyday Nothing (28 February) produced by Bill Ryder-Jones, and dropped this absolute gem. Drawing on the sound of Mazzy Star, Yo La Tengo and early Angel Olsen for its musical inspiration, Perform for You has quickly picked up tastemaker support from the likes of DIY, Dork, the Line of Best Fit, and Radio 1’s Jack Saunders (Midnight Drop play), plus she has just been named Breaking Act in the Sunday Times. She is currently on tour supporting her friend Sam Fender but will be headlining The Islington on the 9 December in London and then Omeara on 19 March. This is sharp, eloquent and heart-wrenching indie for those who like their music on the melancholic side.
