We say

It’s been a busy nine months for south London artist Love Ssega since our feature for the semi-disco inspired pop release Stop Making Sense. He dropped his Lauren Laverne and 6 Music approved Nothing Is Promised EP, had syncs with Made In Chelsea and Channel 4’s This Way Up and toured China as part of the British Council and PRS Foundation's Musician in Residence China 2019 programme. Now back with a new EP, Defiant, after receiving a recent BPI Music Export Growth Scheme grant, he shows off another subtler side to his genre-traversing songwriting style with this intimate and honest number. Driven by a simple piano melody, Lonely Dancing blends gentle percussive elements with soft harmonies and flashes of electronic samples for an emotive affair. Watch the elegant monochrome accompanying visual here. With plans for a London show in early spring and to start work on his debut album next year, it doesn’t look like Love Ssega will be easing off the creative pedal anytime soon. This is quite simply, thought-provoking and leftfield pop.
