Bringing a soulful dose of upbeat sunshine to her latest release is singer-songwriter Gabriela Eva. Musically sitting between Lianne La Havas, Bonobo and Hiatus Kaiyote, Hey! sees the London-based artist drawing on a myriad of influences ranging from pop, jazz, soul, and folk for this feelgood number. With its neo-soul and jazzy feels it has already picked up fans at Soul Bounce, Earmilk, and BBC Introducing Essex (Ollie Winberg), while last Friday Atwood Magazine premiered the video, directed by Gabriela herself, and today she will be on Robert Elms' BBC London radio show at 1pm. Previous tastemaker support has come from Gilles Peterson (6Music) and Robert Elms (BBC London) who played Sailing Over The City from last year‘s self-released EP Rise Up. Tomorrow (22 October) will see her play a show for Sofar Sounds in London and then next Tuesday she will be at Ronnie Scott's. As autumn starts to kick in with a vengeance, this musical splash of sunshine can’t fail to enrich your day.
