Time to get funky with this delicious release from American soul singer Judith Hill who won a Grammy for her appearance in the Oscar winning movie 20 Feet From Stardom. Released on her own label, Gloryhill, The Pepper Club is a blistering slab of fierce funk-pop channelling ‘60s soul funk and former mentor Prince’s guitar magic. Taken from her forthcoming second album Golden Child to be released in November, as well as featuring in her live musical performance of the album in Los Angeles the same month, the track has already picked up tremendous tastemaker support from Billboard, Echoes, Blues & Soul, ThisisRNB and Soul Bounce amongst others. Having released her Prince-produced debut album, Back In Time in 2015, this is a welcome return for this soulful and talented singer. She is currently in the UK on tour and will be performing two nights later this week (18 & 19 July) at Pizza Express Holborn in London. For a funky and fun-filled time, we wholeheartedly recommend a trip to The Pepper Club.
